A Tip

Homemade bread is fantastic.  It’s inexpensive and easy to make, and delicious to eat. Unfortunately, it is not fast to make.  I need to learn to not start making bread at 8:30pm.  Even when I make it into rolls instead of loaves (the former rise and bake faster) it is just not a good thing.

I guess the good thing is that I now have fresh bread for my lunch tomorrow!  Too bad that lunch is in eleven hours and I’ll be at work for five hours before said lunch.

Septuagenarian.

Today’s word is septuagenarian, because today my dad became one.  Happy 70th Birthday Mein Vater!

Addendum

My da further reports that raccoons also like dry cat food.  However, dry cat food is more expensive than dry dog food, so this is not economical if you want to catch/trap a large number of raccoons.

Realization

A bacon-themed pinata is a great idea in concept, but the creation/filling of it is less so.  It’s a pig in the ass.  (Ham?)

Priorities

Went for the game/drink beer option tonight over the write about bacon/beer option.  I know, I know.

Baconalia! review will be up tomorrow.

vroom vroom, beep beep

I drove a lot this weekend – around 200 miles.  I pretty much loathe that I have to have a car (required for work) and hate driving.  While it isn’t a deal breaker for me, I’d love to go to grad school somewhere I can ditch the car and get around by bike and public transit, with the occasional Zip Car.

One thing that made me feel better about owning a car and all of the driving that I did this weekend is that I get stellar mileage.  I reset my trip odometer when I got gas and played my mileage game to entertain myself on the highway.  My mileage game is basically trying to increase my average mpg.  I’m not saying that it’s a fun game, but it’s something to do and is more satisfying than most of my radio options.

Kentucky Derby

When attending a Kentucky Derby Party, it’s really important to be on time.  Horses are fast, so while being two minutes late might not seem like much, that’s pretty much the whole race.

Finally Friday!

With the exception of DST, which didn’t affect me until Monday, all of these things began this past Monday:

Daylight Savings Time + New (longer) Hours at Work + Earlier Arrival Time at Work + Nasty Cold

The yield?

= One Really Long Week.

It has been so long, that I JUST NOW realized that it’s basically Friday!  It’s been Friday for hours already in France!  The last day of my work week!  And, um, now I am so excited that I can’t seem to sleep.  So, you know – seemed like a good idea to log into wordpress and blog about it.
